his new jackolantern impression --
It started like this: and has recently shifted to this:
(can you tell Marc has schooled him in the 80's metal band ethos?)
We got up Saturday and after a slow start realized that it was now-or-never for Halloween costumes, since we tend not to have time to shop and such during the week. We hurried out the door after Eve's nap with some rapid instructions to Marc about how to cook chicken and headed off toward Target.
After some deliberation in the accessories area, Isaac found a sword that met our stringent criteria (no gore, nothing dead [although anatomical skeletons are ok] or overly scary) and proceeded to find the outfit that would go with the sword -- a Golden Dragon Warrior ninja. Eve is happy as a chicken.
Here is our post-shopping try-on session- Isaac's ninja costume is such a good disguise that he's almost difficult to see against the dark cabinet in the background.
We came home to a delicious dinner of nicely cooked chicken, squash, pasta... I need to leave an hour before dinnertime more often! Marc did great (of course).
After today's really busy morning at church and parish meeting and coffee hour and vestry and naps, we went to carve pumpkins with Gabe, Jeff, Nora, Tess and friends. It was so much fun! -- relaxed and pleasant, such a beautiful afternoon to be outside with friends and kids, cider and beer, hotdogs and pumpkin bars. Here are the kids with the jackolantern Isaac designed:
Oh -- one more thing!
Check out the new blog in my 'Blogs' list - my father-in-law Bill shares some really interesting anecdotes and reflections on growing up during segregation -- and what a different place the world is today.
With high hopes for November 4th... goodnight!
